Effective date: 12 August 2026
1. Who we are
WAMP Systems ("WAMP Systems", "we", "us", "our") is a micro software development firm run by Lee Engel and based in Cape Town, South Africa. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, contact us, or use our services.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for visitors in the European Economic Area.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information we need to respond to you and deliver our services:
- Information you provide — your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of any message you send us via our contact details or enquiry forms.
- Project information — details you share about your business, requirements, or existing systems when requesting a quote or engaging our services.
- Usage data — anonymous technical data such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected via analytics tools to understand how our website is used.
- Cookies — small files stored on your device. We use only essential and analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not require an account to contact us.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiries and provide quotes;
- To deliver and manage the services you engage us for;
- To send you updates about your project or, with your consent, occasional news about our work;
- To improve our website and services;
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process personal information on one or more of the following bases (POPIA & GDPR):
- Consent — where you have agreed to us contacting you;
- Contract — where processing is necessary to provide our services to you;
- Legitimate interest — such as responding to enquiries and improving our website;
- Legal obligation — where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:
- With trusted service providers who help us operate (e.g. web hosting, email, and analytics providers), under agreements that require them to protect your information;
- Where required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request;
- In connection with a transfer of our business, with notice to you.
Some service providers may be located outside South Africa. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy — generally, enquiry records are kept for up to 24 months, and project-related records for the duration of the engagement plus any period required by law (e.g. tax or accounting obligations).
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za, or with your local data protection authority if you are in the EU.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 10. We will respond within 30 days. To request deletion of your data, follow our Data Deletion Instructions.
